Subject: [Tricountydirectorsgroup] Changes to MAT funding

Just wanted to give you all a heads-up about changes to the MAT grant
program

Currently, you can apply for an award voucher or you can pay up front and
be reimbursed by a rebate. Beginning Jan 1, 2009 MAT grants will be
available ONLY through a rebate program. Vouchers will no longer be issued.
People who take MAT will be eligible for up to $100 rebate for classroom and
$70 rebate for MAT Independent Study but all fees must be paid upfront. The
notice we received also stated that "All grant rebates will be awarded
contingent upon funding availability".

So, if you have someone right now who needs MAT training that does NOT have
the money to pay up front, encourgae them to apply prior to 12/31/08. The
vouchers are only good for 60 days, so they would have to take the training
before the end of Feb.

In these tough fiscal times in NYS, we are seeing many changes in child care
funding and anticipate seeing a great deal more.

I hope that you all have received (or will soon) your calendar/holiday
wishes from all of us here at the Council. I think you will agree that the
photos selected are bright, vivid images showing the adorable children
within our community at play in their child care settings. Thank you to
those who submitted. While we did not receive as many photos as we
anticipated, the ones that we received were of high quality. I hope that you
enjoy the calendars and have plenty of quality time with family and friends
this holiday.
My best to all,
Lorraine
