Employment prospects look good for
early childhood professionals in the
next decade. One classification by the
Bureau of Labor Statistics was "child
care workers," which includes private
household workers, who care for children
at the children's home; family child care
providers, who care for children in the
provider's own home; and child care
workers who work at separate child care
centers. According to the Bureau of Labor
Statistics, these child care jobs will increase
18% in the ten-year period between 2006
and 2016, which is a faster than average
increase. Preschool teachers' jobs are
predicted to increase just 12% during the
same time period.
