[Tricountydirectorsgroup] Meetings with elected officials

We would like to invite any who are interested, to attend meetings that are
scheduled with elected officials to discuss issues related to child care and
the importance of it in families' lives and livelihoods. If you are unable
to attend but willing to share a real-life story about the impact that
quality child care or the availability of child care subsidies have made on
a family's ability to be self-sufficient or get ahead, we certainly welcome
those. On the flip side, if lack of availability has impacted families we
want to share that info as well. The most memorable visits we have had in
the past have included at least one good story about how child care helped
families work, pay taxes and contribute to the economy. That is the kind of
message that is most effective.
  
Following is the list of appointments we have thus far. Please contact Sara
Meays at scm at mycccc.org (or call her 223-7850 x225) if you would like to
join us and she will email you the advocacy materials we will be using. 

1) Senator Griffo, June 29 at 2:30, State Office Building, Utica, 4th floor
2) Assemblywoman Destito, June 29, 3 p.m., State Ofc Bldg, Utica
3) Assemblyman Magee, June 30, 12 p.m., Oneida
4) Senator Valesky, July 7 at 10 a.m. Syracuse

Sara is awaiting calls back from Townsend, Butler and Seward.
Please note, that due to the budget still not being passed, she was told by
all of the
offices that most likely we will be meeting with staff and not the
legislators.
