Below is information that I am asking directors to post on their parent
bulletin board. It is a free webinar on establishing a child care emergency
plan (something that we should all have in place because you never know!)
Also, I have been asked by the administrators at Mohawk Valley Community
College to survey center directors to find out how many teachers in your
employ may take advantage of a course offering if it was held at our site
again like it was last semester (7 child care personnel took that "Intro to
Human Services" course and did very well) It is less scary for returning
adults to attend a credit bearing course when it is off-campus but this
"Intro to General Psychology" course requires 10 students in order to
justify MVCC hiring an adjunct professor. So, will you please respond to
this posting with "MVCC Course- and fill in "yea" or "nay" response in the
subject line? (If yea, please let me know how many staff indicate an
interest.) Once you query your staff, can you please let me know by July
11th?
One of the students from last semester contacted me to find out if the
courses are going to continue to be hosted here but I cannot get a response
from MVCC until they get a response from me and I cannot respond until I get
a response from you! whew! :-) I think all of the course participants last
semester were eligible for EIP or Workforce Investment funds to help pay for
the course and of course, the availability of those funds again is something
everyone would need to think about.
