Subject: [Tricountydirectorsgroup] Teleconference in Oriskany

The Child Care Council at the Oneida County Farm & Home Center in Oriskany
will be re-showing a SUNY Teleconference "Behavior Management" from 6:45 pm
to 9:15 pm on June 28, 2012. This was originally aired on June 14. Walk-ins
are welcome to attend.

Description of teleconference:

Children are unique in their temperaments, the way they learn, play,

interact with others and grow. Therefore, they react to situations

in different ways. One child might cry because he isn't able to

communicate effectively with others, while another might bite or

use other physical methods to get her needs met. Because of

this, one solution doesn't "fix" every problem. Each challenging

behavior situation that presents itself needs you to evaluate it on a

case-by-case basis and address it accordingly. Maybe what you find

challenging has nothing to do with the child, but has to do with what

your "triggers" are. But that doesn't mean there aren't specific things

you can't try to prevent and remedy different situations should they

arise.

During this videoconference training, the guest panel will hear your

concerns and provide you with advice and hands-on ideas on how to

solve some of the behavior management issues you face every day,

such as biting, bullying, and more. We will also look at ways to work

with families to address these challenges so that all the children in

your care can have a positive experience while in your program.

. Principles of childhood development, focusing on the

developmental stages of the age groups for which the program

CDA Content Area(s):
