In keeping with Autism Awareness Month this April, Hamilton Theater will kick off a new series of Sensory Friendly Screenings for moviegoers with Autism and other sensory processing disorders. The series begins on Sunday, April 1 at 12:30pm with the popular hit Happy Feet 2. Thanks to sponsorship in part by Price Chopper Supermarkets, along with several individuals, admission is free.
This new series will feature a family favorite film on the first Sunday of each month at 12:30pm throughout the year. Following the April 1 opening, the schedule continues with Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked on May 6 and The Smurfs on June 3. Each screening includes the following special features:
The audio is turned down.
The house lights in the theater are up.
No previews are shown before the movie.
Parents and care providers are invited to bring gluten free or other snacks.
Talking and roaming about the theater are an expected part of the experience.
Would you please share this information with those families who may be interested in participating?
Your help is invited also in identifying additional sponsors for this series. Securing sponsors is vital to Hamilton Theater's ability to offer this important series to the community at no charge on an on going basis.
For further information, please contact Hamilton Theater at 315-824-8210 or by email at hmltntheater at usadatanet.net<mailto:hmltntheater at usadatanet.net>.
