[Tricountydirectorsgroup] Shigellosis

In response to Christine Spano's question about the news report I heard on Shigellosis, I called the health dept and they  report that there was an outbreak in a child care setting in one of our counties that is now closed and there is an ongoing case in Onondaga ...so the report is just a reminder to all, stressing the importance of proper hand washing. Arlene has given me a 2- pg info sheet on the communicable disease caused by shigella bacteria that I am attaching to this email. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call us or your local health dept.
I am sure with the approaching "Sandy", you all have your emergency plan and your shelter in place plan on your desks and in your thoughts. Stay safe out there!
