[Tricountydirectorsgroup] stories needed for advocacy day in Albany

There will be an advocacy day in Albany on Feb 27th If you would like to go, we invite you to join us. If you are unable, can you please share any stories related to subsidy funding. The best stories I EVER heard were those I heard at a public hearing in Utica about 18 mos. ago when the Oneida County subsidy funding was being cut to so many parents. I will never forget a young woman who had just received her degree in nursing, got her first job as an RN only to find out that she was losing her child care and would be forced to go back on public assistance. That was sooo powerful!

The subsidy issue is the one I feel we really need to stress. In this economy, often families are forced to choose child care they can afford rather than what they really want for their child. And it appears more and more registered licensed programs have openings!
We do not have a field project for Quality Stars although an expansion in funding might allow that.
