Over the past few months, over 60 educational sites and partners across New York State have signed on via the DTYCTS website to participate. Many others are planning to participate and contacting planning team members or signing up each day.

We think that Dads Take Your Child to School is a “grassroots” and “grasstops” effort. When we say “grassroots,” we mean that community-level planning is at the heart of this event and your work is essential to its success. When we say “grasstops,” we mean that those of us in city, state, and federal government are championing this event however we can by planning, coordinating, and building public awareness at a statewide level. At the end of the day, we are all working to build momentum toward strong parent involvement and better educational outcomes for New York kids.

In order for this all to work, it’s important that all educational sites and community partners are signed up and accounted for. Seeing how you are part of a huge statewide movement helps build the case for the community to support this event. It also helps make the case that this is an activity that deserves the support of our leaders and elected officials.

Please take a moment to look at the listing of schools and community sites that have signed up by checking out the interactive map at https://sites.google.com/site/dtyctsny/maps/2011-participating-sites. If your contact information is listed incorrectly, please contact me. If you are planning to participate, but you do not see your site listed, make sure to sign up at https://sites.google.com/site/dtyctsny/sign-up. Or, fill out the information following this message and send it to the appropriate contact listed below.

We all want to support each other to ensure a successful event.
